Results: Premier & First Division Football
Footballers in both the Premier Division and First Division were in action this weekend, with BAA, Ireland Rangers, St. George’s Colts, and Devonshire Colts all earning wins, while the match between Hamilton Parish and Vasco was postponed, the Southampton Rangers and X-Roads match abandoned, and one match ended in a draw.
First Division
St. David’s 1 – BAA 3
At Lord’s in St. David’s, BAA defeated the host 3 – 1. BAA took a 2 – 0 lead into the halftime break with goals from Patrick Quinn and Caleb McDowall. Iyuan Smith pulled a goal back for St. David’s in the 60th minute, but Chioke White restored BAA’s two goal lead when he found the back of the net in the 89th minute.
Paget Lions 2 – Ireland Rangers 4
At the Southampton Oval, Ireland Rangers came from behind to defeat the Paget Lions 4 – 2. Nathan Simons and Patraic Castle scored the first two goals of the game to give the Paget Lions the lead, but Ireland Rangers got goals from Shaquille Bean, Jahnai Ratteray, Zico Saltus-Seymour, and Chakote Wainwright-Basden as they completed the comeback.
Hamilton Parish – Vasco: Postponed
The Bermuda Football Association announced the First Division match between Hamilton Parish and Vasco at Wellington Oval was postponed.
Premier Division
St. George’s Colts 1 – North Village Rams 0
At the Wellington Oval, the St. George’s Colts picked up a 1 – 0 win over the North Village Rams.
The lone goal of the game came in stoppage time when Jahron Dickinson scored for the St. George’s Colts.
Somerset Trojans 0 – Devonshire Colts 1
The Devonshire Colts traveled to the Somerset Cricket Club to face off against the Somerset Trojans and came away with a 1 – 0 win.
The lone goal of the game came in the 30th minute when Brandon O’Conor scored for the visitors.
Southampton Rangers – X-Roads: Match Abandoned
At the Southampton Oval, some of the players decided to leave the field, leaving the referee with no option other than to abandon the match.
Devonshire Cougars 2- Dandy Town Hornets 2
At the Devonshire Recreation Club, the Devonshire Cougars held the league leaders Dandy Town Hornets to a 2 – 2 draw.
Domico Coddington gave the Devonshire Cougars the lead in the 23rd minute, but in the 29th minute Azendae Furbert equalized for the Dandy Town Hornets. Nizigh Spence gave the Dandy Town Hornets the lead in the 55th minute, only for Coddington to level the score at 2 – 2 in the 61st minute.
