Margaret Rose Giloth To Host Series Of Events
Author and producer Margaret Rose Giloth will be holding a series of events, including book signings at the Bermuda National Library on Saturday [Jan 22] and February 3 and a premiere of a short film on January 22.
A spokesperson said, “With a new book and a fictional drama short film under her belt, author and producer Margaret Rose Giloth has had a busy two years that she defines as productive and highly rewarding. This very focused individual exudes the high energy and positive attitude that it took to accomplish these significant milestones that started as seedlings back in 2008.
“With her signature perseverance and the belief that no one can derail your dreams except you, she epitomizes to the numbers of individuals whom she mentors that you can do whatever you truly put into your heart and mind.
“Asked to define what primary character quality is behind everything that she does, Ms. Giloth said, ‘Heart. It takes heart. In fact, I had an avatar designed for the back of my book of a rose [my middle name] with heart-shaped petals falling from it and the caption: It takes heart.’
“Father absence is the topic of both her newly released book Who’s Your Daddy: 12 Steps to Rescuing the Next Generation from Father Absence Syndrome and her short film The Lost Father. Ms. Giloth appeals to all stakeholders with responsibility for raising and nurturing children that it indeed takes heart to invest in whatever healing, growth, and development that individuals need to ensure that the next generation of young people are adequately equipped to live healthy, productive, and loving lives that will strengthen the community and the world.
“In her local research, many fathers expressed that they feel marginalized or left out. Ms. Giloth found it easy to relate to that sentiment because of the very stark difference in how society celebrates mothers versus the attention given to fathers. ‘Compare Mother’s Day to Father’s Day and it’s clear to see who is valued the most,’ remarked one dad.
“As an intentional expression of support for fathers, Ms. Giloth and the board of their charity, Phenomenal People, have created two fatherhood initiatives. 24/7 Dad is a 12-week workshop to help willing dads learn important elements of being an effective father, while CHADTT [Children and Dads Time Together] is aimed at providing a series of outdoor adventure activities to improve father/child bonding. These programs are free to registrants and will commence shortly.”
Ms. Giloth said, “We strongly believe in equipping parents with practical tools to improve family relationships, even if the family does not reside under the same roof. These initiatives and other meaningful strategies are included in the book’s 12 steps and are geared to moms, dads, grandparents, coaches, teachers, etc. Anyone who engages with youth needs to read this book.
“The welfare and well-being of every child is the responsibility of the entire community.”
The spokesperson said, “To celebrate the launch of the book and film, a series of events has been arranged, including book signings at the Bermuda National Library [Jan 22 and Feb 3] and a premiere of the short film at BUEI on the evening of Jan 22.”
Ms. Giloth said, “We are very excited to celebrate our all-Bermudian cast and crew of the Lost Father short film. They put in a lot of work, and it’s been a long time coming, but we did it.”
The spokesperson said, “For details on these events, email info@margaretrosegiloth.com or check our website.
“Congratulations to Margaret Giloth on the release of her book, which one family therapist calls ‘an essential handbook for families and those who care about them.’
“In Who’s Your Daddy: 12 Steps to Rescuing the Next Generation from Father Absence Syndrome, readers will learn proven strategies to shift challenges to opportunities, helplessness to empowerment, and despair to hope.
“There is a whole generation of young people growing up in families too similar to reality TV shows who will have their social shortcomings and dysfunctions manifest in 5-10 years. If we are to have a chance of maintaining a decent and caring society, then the next generation must deeply matter to all of us. The quality of their lives is everyone’s business.
“Who’s Your Daddy reflects the author’s heart and ongoing passion to empower families. She uses her own life story to illustrate her understanding of issues and solutions.
“Margaret Giloth founded the nonprofit organization Phenomenal People in Bermuda in 2006 to support the needs of families and individuals, starting with Eagles Wings, a support group to assist adult women to heal from the effects of non-nurturing relationships.
“In 2008, recognizing the need to positively impact the next generation, the Dream Girls Club mentorship program was started to serve girls between the ages of nine and 18.
“Who’s Your Daddy is the culmination of her experiences and provides the practical strategies and steps that are proven to help mothers, fathers, and children to turn around the most difficult situations.
“Who’s Your Daddy: 12 Steps to Rescuing the Next Generation from Father Absence Syndrome includes many relatable stories from the lives of women, men, and children. Then the author goes deeper, giving specific action steps, processes a family can utilize, and a full list of helpful additional resources including organizations, web sites, and books.
“Her journey of becoming a champion of female empowerment and self-development began in 1987 on the island of Bermuda and expanded to the United States, where she resided for nearly 20 years. With a bachelor’s degree in Organizational Management from Vanguard University in California and a wealth of community service leadership experience, Margaret returned to her island home in 2005.
“In a transition from the U.S. corporate arena to public service in Bermuda, she went on to accomplish 14 years in youth development leadership, training, and development with the Bermuda Government, plus multiple years participating voluntarily in the arduous ongoing task of building a national agenda for youth and families in Bermuda.
“In her multiple roles of president, spokesperson, board chair, and program facilitator, Margaret leads by example to grow the organization’s mission in accordance with community needs. It is easy to see why Who’s Your Daddy? gives new wings not only to Margaret’s purpose, but to Phenomenal People’s expanded mission to positively impact the lives of fathers, mothers, families and individuals.
“Who’s Your Daddy is available locally at Brown & Co and on Amazon.com in both paperback and kindle versions.”
