Bermuda winger Luke Robinson has been hailed for making an immediate impact for English non-League side Worthing.

The 23-year-old has been in impressive form since joining the Isthmian League Premier Division leaders last month.

Robinson made his debut as a late substitute in Worthing’s 3-1 victory away to Bognor Regis Town last Tuesday before making his first start in a 3-1 win at home to Horsham on New Year’s Day.

He also came on as a second-half substitute in Worthing’s 2-1 defeat away to Carshalton Athletic last night [Monday].

Adam Hinshelwood, the Worthing manager, told the club’s website after their win over Horsham: “It was his [Robinson’s] first start today, and he showed glimpses of what he’s all about.

“We’ve not had long to work with him and show him what we want.

“He’s exactly what we want from our forward players. He’s very much an aggressive type of player and wants to take players on and go forward.

“It gives us another dimension to our play when we’ve got a player who can do that.

“I was really pleased with his performance. He was stretching his legs at the end; it was his first 90 [minutes] in a while.”

Before signing for Worthing, Robinson played for Haywards Heath Town in the Isthmian League South East Division, Horsham and Staines Town.

Despite only a short spell at Staines, Robinson was the South-Central Division club’s Supporters’ Player of the Season last term.

Robinson played for Bermuda in their World Cup qualifiers against the Cayman Islands and Surinam last summer.
