Video: 100 Days Until Bermuda Sail Grand Prix
The Bermuda Tourism Authority today [Feb 3] joined Hamilton Princess & Beach Club and SailGP to mark the 100-day countdown to the opening event of the global league’s third season, set for May 14-15.
A spokesperson said, “The occasion was observed with the unveiling of a countdown clock at the Bermuda Visitors Service Center and the introduction of the Bermuda Sail Grand Prix Steering Committee.
“Bermuda will once again host the opening event in the purpose-led, global league’s third season which has expanded to include ten teams – with new additions Canada and Switzerland joining the ranks. SailGP Season 3 kicks off May 14-15 and, following Bermuda, will stop at iconic cities including Chicago, Copenhagen, Saint-Tropez and Dubai among others spanning 2022/23 and expected to include ten events.

“To support the event planning and local execution of the Grand Prix, a SailGP Steering Committee has been appointed. The committee is composed of representatives from a diverse cross section of the local community and reflect stakeholder groups that have natural engagement points with the pre-season training camp and two-day Grand Prix event either economically or within the community.
“Additionally, the Steering Committee will support youth sailing activities that inspire Bermuda’s young people and celebrate Bermuda’s maritime history. The members serve an important role connecting the event with local stakeholders including Bermuda’s local boating and social clubs and tourism entrepreneurs.
“Steering Committee appointees include business and community leaders such as Paul Scope – Chairman, Mark Clarke – Deputy Chairman, Raymond Lambert, Erika Smith, Susan Pateras, Alan Burland and Lyndon Raynor. The committee membership represents stakeholders whose backgrounds span local and international sailing, logistics, fundraising expertise, international business, and community engagement.”
