February 8, 2022 | 0 Comments

The Bermuda Chamber of Commerce will be hosting its annual Budget Breakfast on Monday, February 28th 2022.

This year’s event, sponsored and moderated by PwC Bermuda will follow the same panel format as previous years and will be an online event held via zoom.”

In making the announcement, the Chamber’s Chief Executive Officer Kendaree Burgess noted: “We will host our annual Budget Breakfast online again this year, to be held the Monday morning immediately following the Friday 26th February Budget Statement.

“The Chamber welcomes the opportunity to present a forum for the Bermuda business community to discuss this year’s Budget Statement, particularly given the continued and long-term fiscal impact of COVID-19 on tourism and the local economy and the potential impact of the 15% minimum corporate tax on multinationals. Without a doubt this year’s budget will spark robust debate and we look forward to the discussions.”

The event will feature the Minister of Finance Curtis Dickinson along with industry panelists. The discussion will be moderated by PwC Bermuda leader Arthur Wightman.

Arthur Wightman, PwC Bermuda leader said: “PwC is pleased to continue our sponsorship and support for Bermuda’s premier business event. I expect a lively debate with the Minister of Finance and our panelists on how the Government is responding to the unprecedented COVID-19 shock to our economy.

“While businesses worldwide continue to face pressures from the pandemic, the high level of CEO optimism we found in PwC’s 2022 Annual Global CEO Survey speaks to the strength and resilience of the global economy, and the ability of leaders to manage through uncertainty.

“Here in Bermuda, there is no shortage of challenges to navigate. Bold and innovative strategies are required for our economy to rebound. I look forward to hearing how the Minister’s budget is going to support Bermudians and businesses and bring about strong and sustainable economic growth for a post-pandemic future.”
