Car Licensing Fees To Be Reduced By 10%
“This year, to provide further relief across the board to all residents, the Government is cutting the vehicle licensing fees for private cars by 10%,” Premier and Minister of Finance David Burt said.
In delivering the 2022 Budget today, Premier Burt said, “It has long been a known irritation in Bermuda that the birthday gift from the Government of Bermuda for those persons owning a private car is a very large bill for your annual vehicle licensing fee.
“This year, to provide further relief across the board to all residents, the Government is cutting the vehicle licensing fees for private cars by 10%. Let me repeat that Mr. Speaker, the Government is cutting the vehicle licensing fees for all private cars by 10%.”

No free lunch Bermuda! These fees should be increasing so that we can pay our bills, pay Burt’s partners, reduce the debt and for all the give-aways.
That’s a fine little bone, maybe I’ll pick my teeth with it
what was the old Seniors Class D license fee
10% more than published on the chart above.
Henny about to go up by 10%. What…that 10% gotta be made up somewhere.
Look back at the drs budget the 1.2 doc, now look at the patients budget.the 1.2 mill payee Wonder whos at the helm
Weird and inconsistent. Next they’ll be borrowing more money and adding to the already disastrous debt. Nothing they do has any coherence.
When does this come into effect?
Well, big whoop dee doo. Even on an H class car the discount amounts to a few bags of groceries for the year.
Here is a reference for vehicle licensing as an owner of a vehicle in the US. In the state that it is registered in there is the option of paying a ONE TIME registration fee of $300 for the vehicle for the rest of the time owning it once it is ten years old. Keep it till it is 20 years old & it has cost $30 per year for those last 10 years.
Vehicle registration fees here are insane.
A trinket that ignores those who have less money and have to live day by day on a scooter or or a bus or have smaller cars as the $ saving for them that need more is smaller. The poor being overlooked and having to pick up the tab of the rich again.
The PLP talk a good game, but deliver a very very different one and keep feeding the PLP elite.
Cut size of government, we don’t need 36 MP’s and also change the defined benefit plan to a defined contribution plan, and change this meaningless trinket from a 10% to an equal dollar saving for all to encourage people to use smaller cars and help the poor and the less wealthy.
In the crazy US system there are 435 reps and 100 senators for 330 million people.
UK 650 MP for 68 million
36 MPs and several JUNIOR MPs in a country of 61,000. Go figure.
Why do we need Junior MPs anyway and how much do they drain the General Fund?
