Police Tribute To Chief Inspector Tyrone Smith

The police have extended their condolences to the family of the late Chief Inspector Tyrone Smith.

Acting Commissioner of Police Mr Darrin Simons said, “On Sunday, 6th February 2022, we learnt of the passing of one of our BPS family members, former Chief Inspector 327 Tyrone O’Brien Smith.

“Tyrone O. Smith was born in Christ Church, Barbados on 3rd November 1955, and relocated to Bermuda as a Police Officer in 1978.

“Former Chief Inspector Tyrone Smith joined the Bermuda Police Service as a Constable on 6th August 1978. He was promoted to Sergeant on the 20th May 1991, then on the 1st December 1998, he was promoted to Inspector. Almost four years later he was promoted to the rank of Chief Inspector on 1st November 2002.

“Former Chief Inspector 327 Tyrone O’Brien Smith retired on 25th November 2010, after 32 years and 3 months service to the people of Bermuda. His last working day was 10th August 2010.

“The BPS family thoughts and prayers are with his loving wife Mrs. Tracy Smith, his son Tyrone Jr., family, friends, former colleagues and loved ones at this difficult time.”
