IoD Presents New Courses For March
The Institute of Directors Bermuda [IoD] announced two upcoming courses this month.
A spokesperson said, “The Role of the Chair, and the next scheduled course in the Certificate in Company Direction [CICD] qualification, The Role of the Director and the Board.
“The Role of the Chair, will take place virtually on March 24 from 9:00am to 5:00pm and will be facilitated by Mr Damon Clark.
“The board chair has a critical influence on a board’s style, composition, balance and performance,” says Danielle Riviere, IoD Bermuda Executive Director. “This course provides a unique opportunity to review the chair’s role in light of current legal requirements and good practice.”
“The Role of the Chair course is specifically designed to build knowledge for successfully leading a board, developing more effective boards and making proper use of both executive and non-executive directors.
“The Role of the Director and the Board is being held across two days, March 15 and 16, and is one of four courses required to achieve the CICD qualification.
“The CICD is the first qualification on the path towards attaining Chartered Directorship through IoD Bermuda. It is a modular programme that also covers Strategy, Finance and Leadership for directors and delivers the core knowledge and awareness needed to be an effective member of both company and non-profit boards.
“We recommend and encourage all directors to consider this programme as an important part of their professional development,” says Ms Riviere. “Whether you are newly appointed, or looking to improve your performance with a fresh perspective, practical case-study led insight shared on the day will equip you with the essential knowledge and skill-set to fulfil your role successfully.
“Particularly during the pandemic, boards have played an increasingly important role in ensuring the success, and in some cases, survival of organisations across the community and economy. Ongoing professional development critical to ensure this success.”
“These courses are open to both members and non-members of IoD Bermuda and those interested in learning more can visit www.iod.bm or email info@iod.bm.”
