Jehovah’s Witnesses Return To In-Person

March 20, 2022

After two years of meeting virtually due to the pandemic, Jehovah’s Witnesses “across the world are being encouraged to begin holding in-person meetings during the week of April 1.”

“I’ve been attending our congregation meetings since 1989,” said Clarence Borden of Somerset. “I’m really looking forward to in-person meetings again. I miss the one-on-one conversations before and after the meetings.”

Alexander and Chantel Mosley, also of Southampton have a 2-year-old who has only seen congregation friends through Zoom.

“We have always wanted our children to grow up serving Jehovah with other loving friends and family around them,” said Alexander Mosley.

Chantel Mosley agrees. “Our 2 year-old has only known these loving ones from a computer screen, so we are very excited to have the opportunity for our son to finally be able to associate with other Jehovah’s Witnesses in-person.”

A spokesperson said, “For most of the last two years, buildings for worship have remained closed globally due to the risks associated with meeting in person. Jehovah’s Witnesses in the U.S. also suspended their public ministry on March 20, 2020.

“Since that time, they have carried on their ministry through letters and phone calls while holding twice-weekly meetings in a virtual format. Average attendance at these meetings exceeded 1.5 million each week in the U.S., even though there are fewer than 1.3 million Jehovah’s Witnesses in some 13,000 congregations.

“As of now, Jehovah’s Witnesses have no plans to resume their public ministry, though their “alternative” ministry continues. In fact, since the start of the pandemic through November 2021 in the U.S. alone, Jehovah’s Witnesses spent more than 400 million hours in virtual Bible studies, writing letters of comfort to their neighbors and making phone calls. They have released 77 new language translations of the Bible and held two global virtual conventions in more than 500 languages.”

Thank you for your interesting article on our beliefs and Christian ministry.
One minor adjustment – Jehovah’s Witnesses do not use a cross in worship, since the Greek word Stauros translates as stake.
This is confirmed by “Strong’s Greek”.
Also we believe the scripture at John 4:24 which say”God is a spirit and those worshipping him must worship with spin and with truth. So we do not use physical things in worship.
    Hope this clarifies.
    Kind regards,
    Janet

I often wonder how much THEY would appreciate it if WE showed up on their doorsteps uninvited and at the most inopportune of times to talk to them about something they have no interest in .

Do what I did years ago , have them put your whole neighborhood on their ‘do not visit list’ .

So much time, energy and money wasted on religions. How much further the Human Race would have developed if it were not for religion.
