Softball Is Back After A Two-Year Layoff

April 3, 2022

Softball is back after a two-year layoff due to the Covid pandemic. Games started this week with play across four divisions at the Michael Preece Softball Diamond.

In A Division, the Greg Bell, Adam Birch coached Moongate Brewers dethroned The Kings 26 to 3 while the X-Bats picked up a default victory against Blue Wahoos. The division also features the Fully Loaded Allstars and Paraquet Flyers.

The B Division is full of familiar faces as Beach Bums began their long-awaited title defence by slipping past 2019 runners-up Raggamuffins 11-9. This week, the Hakuna Matata Lions edged Team Smokey 15-14 in the other game. Scared Hitless and the Corporation of Hamilton are also in the division.

Killawhat had too much power for Super Express as they prevailed 8-4 in the C Division. Mike’s Trucking ran over the Five O’s 17-7. Butterfield & Vallis, and Oddballs round out the division.

In Women’s Division action, Rainbows, made up of players from Skylights, matched their 2019 win total by blasting PHC Zebras 30-8. Western Stars Angels trounced rivals HardKnockz 22-7.

This week league play happens Monday through Friday, starting at 6:30pm at the Diamond. Softball Bermuda’s schedule, standings, and league rules can be found here.
