Lambe Aims To ‘Keep The Stoppages Going’

Andre Lambe aims to continue his impressive knockout streak when he faces Jamaican Dwayne Lawrence at The Shed in Dockyard on Saturday.
Lambe remains undefeated after stopping all four of his opponents and believes another early finish could be on the cards against Lawrence.
The only opponent to have survived the opening stanza is Jose Ceja of Canada, who reached the third round before succumbing to Lambe’s superior power and accuracy.
“I’m trying to keep the stoppages going,” Lambe told Bernews. “It makes my job easier if I can stop my opponents early. I can get back to training as I don’t have to recover from a hard night.”
Ominously for Lawrence, who is making his professional debut, Lambe said he is displaying razorlike precision in his offensive repertoire during his fight camp at the NB Boxing Gym in Warwick.
“I’m preparing like this is a title fight because that’s where we want to get to,” the southpaw said.
“We’ve been working on different shots. When I fought Jose Ceja, we worked on the overhand left, and that was the punch that ended the fight. That’s cemented now.
“I was the same when I fought [Dajuan] Robinson when we worked on the straight right, left hook, which was the combination that dropped him.
“Hopefully, this fighter can bring out the best in me. He’s a pure boxer, not an MMA guy or anything like that. It’s his debut, so you never know what to expect.”
The 26-year-old said he will jump from four to six rounds after dispatching Lawrence and hopes for at least two more contests this year.
“This will be my last four-round fight, so I’ve stepped it up and been sparring more rounds,” the welterweight added.
“I usually spar twice a week in camp, but I’ve been doing more than that.
“I’m praying for three more fights this year, but I’ll be happy with two.
“We’re looking to move to the next level, and it’s all about timing. You have to take the correct route to get there. You can’t rush things.
“We have goals in mind, but in boxing, anything can happen, so it’s always good to focus on what’s in front of you.”
