Latest Bermuda Softball League Results

In the latest round of softball action, the Blue Wahoos grounded Paraquet Flyers 14-12 in softballs’ A Division. Flyers jumped out to an early lead by plating six in the first inning thanks in part to a Joe Torres three-run blast.

They added another six in the fourth, this time Manuel Flores was the one smacking a three-run homer, but the club would be held scoreless over the final three frames. Derrick Holmes, Shane Matchett, and Sean McNulty all had four for Flyers. The team took the lead for good when they scored four in the fifth with McNulty capping the scoring with a solo knock in the sixth.

Also, in the A Division, Fully Loaded Allstars powered their way to a 15 to 9 victory over The Kings. Trevor Corday [2-3], Steven Simons [2-3], Scott Bernard [3-4] and Tariq Bean [1-3] all homered. Pitcher Terrence Corday aided his own cause by going 4-4. Richard Campbell [3-4] was he Kings’ top hitter, but Lez Dziwenka and John Rolph also helped with home runs.

In the B Division, Hakuna Mata Lions continued its winning ways with an easy 21 to 4 mauling of Raggamuffins. Lions scored two in the first and nine in the second as they put this one out of reach early. Leadoff man Troy Hall was 3-4 with a homer and three RBI while teammate Shannon Raynor [[3-4] also blasted one out of the park. Stephen Smith led the team with 5 RBI. Tony Biechini [3-3] led the way for Raggamuffins with two homers and knocking in three of the four runs.

Other divisional scores saw Team Smokey down FIU Scared Hitless 22 to 6, and the Corporation of Hamilton derail Super Express 17 to 6.

This week also saw crossover play as the Women’s Division took on teams from the Coed C Division. Western Stars Angels won their contest 15 to 11. The women’s teams were allowed to have guest players and Shannon Raynor [1-1, 4 RBI] blasted a grand slam for Stars in the first inning then walked three times. Keisha Eve [304] also knocked in four runs for Stars. Troy Hall was 3-4 while George Fubler [4-4] was perfect at the plate in the loss.

The other scores saw the three other C Division teams emerge with wins. Five O’s slip past HardKnockz 15 to 11, Mike’s Trucking capturing Zebras 13 to 5, and Butterfield and Vallis Sliders taking the shine off of Rainbows 17 to 9. Paulo Arruda [4-4] had a big night for B&V as he knocked in 7 runs, two coming on a sixth inning homer. Both Marcus Allan and Chris Mayne were 3-5 for the Sliders. Abagail Kempe [3-4] had two doubles and scored three runs for Rainbows.
