Just three teams remain unbeaten as Softball Bermuda’s league play reaches the halfway point.

But that isn’t true in the A Division as all six clubs are within four points of each other. Paraquet Flyers’ Manuel Flores powered his club to a 16-13 victory over MoonGate Brewers. Flores blasted two homers and had seven RBI. Steve O’Flynn also homered for Flyers’ Richard Madeiros, Mike Sakata, Gary Adams, and Shane K. all homered for MoonGate. X-Bats won a thriller against Fully Loaded Allstars when mark James scored the winning run with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Dustin Luck set up those heroics when he blasted a two-run homer earlier in the inning. Earlier, Luck had hit a three-run shot. X-Bats produced their own theatrics in the top of the seventh when they scored five times to take an 11-9 lead. Trevor Corday [2-4] provided the big blow with a grand slam homer. Steven Simons and Shannon Burchall also homered for Allstars.

Hakuna Matata Lions are dominating the B Division and remain unbeaten at 5-0. The Lions are beating their opponents by an average of 10 runs a game, the largest margin of any team in any division. This week they smashed Scared Hitless 26-3as brian Hall [4-4], and Scott Barnes [4-4] scored eight runs and knocked in 12 from the top of the lineup. Hall had a pair of three-run homers. Cleanup man Shannon Raynor was also 4-4, plating a run in each of his four at-bats. Scared Hitless actually had a 1-0 lead as leadoff man Marcus Johnson scored on an Owen Darrell single.

Mike’s Trucking has the pedal down in their bid for promotion from the C Division. The club is 4-0 and leads the second-place team by five points. The Corporation of Hamilton [COH] moved into second place with a 17-10 triumph over Oddballs. COH scored 11 runs in the second inning to help them coast to the finish. Fred Richardson was 3-5 with a homer and four RBI, while Damon Walker kept the lineup turning over at the bottom of the order going 4-4. Walker scored three times and plated two others. Casandra Trott [3-3] and Yari Ming [3-4] also had good swings at the plate for COH. Oddballs scored four in the fourth and five in the fifth but went down tepidly in the sixth and seventh innings. Jeff Chisnall [3-3] and Adam Fenos [HR, 3 RBI] were the leading lights for Oddballs.

Western Stars Angels went unbeaten in Women’s Division play and downed a C Division team two weeks ago. However, this week they fell to Super Express 15-8. Oddballs defeated women’s team HardKnockz 22-7. Both Rainbows and PHC Zebras also had success against the coed teams this week.
