Four Triathletes Compete In Alcatraz Triathlon
Four Bermuda triathletes — Sharon Hammond, Caroline Black, Frances Betts, and Jennifer Lightbourne — competed in the Escape From Alcatraz Triathlon in California.
Hammond finished 323rd overall and third in the female 50 – 54 age group division with a time of 3:05:29. Hammond came out of the water in a time of 35:54, completed the bike course in a time of 1:08:52, and closed out with a run time of 1:10:15.
Lightbourne finished 549th overall and she was 16th in the female 45 – 49 age group division after crossing the line in a time of 3:18:57. Lightbourne clocked a time of 37:07 on the swim, 1:14:31 on the bike, and then 1:17:04 on the run course.
Competing in the female 40 – 44 age group division, Black finished 671st overall and 18th in the division with a time of 3:27:02. Black was clocked on the swim in a time of 31:35; she then clocked 1:14:41 on the bike, before closing out with a run time of 1:29:47.
Frances Betts finished 860th overall. She crossed the line in a time of 3:38:47, which saw her finish 25th in the female 50 – 54 age group division. Betts clocked a time of 34:35 on the swim, 1:21:07 on the bike, and 1:26:58 on the run.
