Ministry: More Garbage Trucks Now In Service
“We now have ten trucks in service, which amounts to 67 per cent of our fleet, up from four trucks a few weeks ago,” Minister of Public Works Lt/Col. David Burch said.
A Government spokesperson said, “The Ministry of Public Works advises that an acute shortage of the number of operational garbage collection trucks for the Island has been improved thanks to valiant efforts by the Public Works team.
“The Ministry reported on the truck shortage a few weeks ago due to difficulty obtaining critical parts for the vehicles from overseas suppliers. Members of the public are encouraged to use the Tynes Bay public drop-off for the disposal of household waste, recycling, hazardous materials such as paints and pesticides, and bulky items.”
Minister Burch said: “Today we are pleased to report that we now have ten trucks in service, which amounts to 67 per cent of our fleet, up from four trucks a few weeks ago.
“This is a marked improvement. I am extremely proud of the work that has been done to get the trucks back in service. We have taken some steps to improve the management at the Quarry, which is bearing fruit. Thanks to all for working hard to achieve this result.”
“I cannot stress how grateful we are for the adeptness of our Public Works team which wasted no time in focusing on coming up with a solution that has bolstered capacity.”
Do the math. If 10 trucks = 67% then how many trucks = 100%????
(10/67) x 100″ = 0.149 X 100 = 14.9 trucks.
I wonder what happened to the 0.1 par of that last truck?
Burch is the biggest BS around.
A third of the fleet is out of action, and Burch thinks this is good.
Remember, success is Bermuda is getting up in the morning without sh*ting the bed.
Now the W & E Minister is back in the public area, would he please send a crew or 2 to clear the road side along the Middle Road stretch bordering the Arboretum. It’s a disgrace and eyesore, does no one from W & E drive along Middle Road and see it needs cleaning?
It took an outside consultant to come in and get things done credit to him the place is a mess but he has challenged the system well done.
