Writ Issued For Extraordinary Municipal Election

A writ has been issued for “an extraordinary municipal election to be held for the Corporation of St. George’s for the election of one Residents’ Councillor.”

This was contained in today’s official notices, which stated, “In pursuance of the provisions of section 30 of the Parliamentary Election Act 1978, as modified by the Municipalities [Election] Order 2015, notice is hereby given that on 2nd June 2022 the Parliamentary Registrar issued writs of election for an extraordinary municipal election to be held for the Corporation of St. George’s for the election of one Residents’ Councillor.

“Notice is further given that: Nomination Day is 23 June 2022, Polling Day is 7 July 2022, the Election Room is the Town Hall, St. George’s.”

This follows after it was announced the office of Resident’s Councillor of the Corporation of St. George’s – formerly occupied by Cyniqua Anderson - is vacant as she has “duly resigned.”
