Four Sailors Continue European Championships
Four Bermuda sailors continued competing in the 2022 European optimist Championships, as Noah Amaradasa, Oliver Soares, James Ganal, and Riley Lowe all took to the waters of Sønderborg in Denmark.
Two more races were completed to make it six races in the series thus far, and sailors are allowed to now throw out their worst finish.
Ganal continues to lead the Bermuda Boy’s Fleet, but he fell six places from his starting position of 58th to come off the water in 64th place overall with 99 net points. Ganal finished 13th in the first race of the day and the fifth of the series, before crossing the line 32nd in the second race.
Soares fell 16 places and is now in 99th place in the Boy’s Fleet with 141 net points, he finished 46th in the first race, and then crossed the line 29th in race two.
Amaradasa came off the water in 120th place overall, he crossed the line in 37th place in the first race, before finishing 28th in race two for his 167 net points.
Competing in the Girls Fleet, Lowe finds herself in 95th place at the conclusion of the third day of racing, after being Black Flagged in the first race of the day, before finishing 28th in the second race, Lowe has 205 net points.
