Bermuda’s top collegiate sailors faced varying degrees of success this weekend as they competed in the high-stakes tactical environment of the Aaron Szambecki Team Race.

The cross-regional regatta featured premier United States sailing programs competing in technical 420 and FJ class boats

Christian Ebbin and his Tulane University teammates established themselves among the frontrunners during the opening sessions. The Green Wave finished the initial rounds in a tie for fourth place, ending with a record of seven wins and three losses. Ebbin remains in a position to contend for a podium finish as the regatta progresses.

The weekend proved more challenging for Bermudians Paul Rodrigues Jr. and Jordan Vieira, representing Eckerd College. The Tritons were involved in several tightly contested duals throughout the opening rounds, navigating the competitive regional circuit.

Despite tactical efforts from the Bermudian pair, Eckerd College concluded the initial sessions in 10th place overall. The team currently holds a record of two wins and nine losses.
