Bermuda batter Dennico Hollis has helped Stenhousemuir Cricket Club win the Western Division One title with a game to spare.

Hollis, who was part of Bermuda’s squad for the ICC Cricket World Cup Challenge League B in Uganda and Jersey this summer, said he is excited to test himself in the Western Premier Division next season.

His team are at home to East Kilbride in their final league game of the summer on Saturday.

“It will be nice to end the season with a win and collect the trophy,” Hollis told Bernews.

“It’s been a collective effort from everyone, although a lot of credit has to go to Dannie Rossouw, our South African overseas player, who has scored more than 1,000 runs in all competitions this season.

“Winning promotion with Stenhousemuir has been a personal goal of mine since I arrived in Scotland [four years ago].”

Although Hollis would have liked to have scored more runs for Stenhousemuir this summer, he is satisfied with his contribution to their title triumph.

“I haven’t had as good a season as last summer,” he added. “I have one game to go, and I’m looking to finish on a high with a fifty or a hundred.

“I’ve missed games this season because of being on international duty with Bermuda.”

The 34-year-old said he was considering his international future now the dust has settled on Bermuda’s League B campaign.

“The tour of Jersey was quite a frustrating one for me,” he said.

“I’ve had 14 years being part of the Bermuda national team, and I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve had. We’ll see what the future holds.”
