Recently, Minister of Youth, Culture and Sport Dr. Ernest Peets recognized 16 Bermudian artists whose work is featured in Government buildings as part of the “Public Art Project in Government Buildings”.

A Government spokesperson said, “The public will recall that the initiative was announced in the 2018 Throne Speech. The Department of Culture facilitated the project and last week, several creative pieces were installed in the Dame Lois Brown Evans, the General Post Office, and Government Administration buildings, all located in Hamilton.

“Featured artists include: Otto Trott, Graham Foster, Nicky Gurret, Colin Hassell, Gherdai Hassell, Shanna Hollis, Kiersten Bulloch, Fiona Elkinson, Maleia Howard, Lenny Ming, Peri Nolan-Trott, Tai-Qian Ottley, Rhona Pedro, Corrina Rego, Dana Selassie and Tuesday Trimingham.”

Minister Peets said, “We are pleased to showcase these local talented artists as part of the public art in Government buildings project. We see this as an important way for our creatives to share their bold and unique visions with our community.

“These buildings are high traffic areas, and it’s a wonderful way for members of the public to see some amazing pieces depicting our environment, culture, and heritage up close. We have been very keen to support all our Bermudian talent, and this Government remains committed to ensuring that our local artists are provided with public platforms to showcase their works.”
