US Actress Allison Janney Visits Bermuda
A US actress has travelled to Bermuda courtesy of the hit television show Who Do You Think You Are?
The series, which traces the ancestries of celebrity guests, featured Allison Janney, from the critically acclaimed TV show The West Wing, who visited the National Museum of Bermuda to learn about her ancestor, Stephen Hopkins.
A rebellious character from the shipwreck that led to the settlement of Bermuda, Hopkins mutinied against leaving the island for the British colony of Jamestown in Virginia.
The English minister’s clerk joined the flotilla led by Sea Venture, headed for Jamestown, but ran aground about a mile off Bermuda after the flagship, captained by Sir George Somers, was caught in a severe storm.
The episode aired last month on NBC.
