Sincere Hall Scores In Hull City U21 Victory

September 27, 2022

Bermuda’s Sincere Hall scored for the Hull City Under-21 team as they played to a 3-1 victory over Birmingham City.

The club’s match report said, “Hull City Under-21s secured victory on their return to Professional Development League action as they defeated Birmingham City 3-1 at Bishop Burton College.

“A brace by Jim Simms and finish by Sincere Hall saw the Tigers secure the victory against the Blues, with Frank Tattum netting for the visitors.

“Conor Sellars made just one change to the starting XI to the one that was narrowly defeated 5-4 against Fulham in the Premier League Cup. Will Jarvis, who recently finished his loan spell at Scarborough Athletic, came into the side for the injured Jack Leckie.

“Jarvis had the first opportunity of the game as his strike was saved by Alfie Brooks while Brandon Khela fired over from distance for the visitors. Harry Wood then saw his shot deflect wide before the Tigers opened the scoring from the resulting corner routine. Wood’s delivery was not dealt with by the Birmingham defence and Simms reacted quickest to head the ball over the line.

“Few chances were created after the opening goal, with Hall’s cross-shot testing Brooks before Tom Macauley produced a good one-on-one save in the other goal. Louie Chorlton’s loose back pass was picked up by Ben Beresford, but the onrushing Macauley blocked the forward’s attempt.

“Wood then drilled a low free-kick across the six-yard area, which no one could divert goalwards, before Simms thought he doubled the Tigers’ lead two minutes from half-time as he converted Jake Leake’s delivery, but it was ruled out for offside.

“In the second half, good link-up play between Simms and Hall saw the latter shoot wide, before Jarvis tested Brooks from range. On the 57th minute, the Tigers doubled their lead as Matty Jacob’s effort deflected off a Birmingham defender into the air, and Simms waited for the ball to drop before placing his header into the far corner.

“Simms thought he secured his hat-trick five minutes later as he met Chorlton’s near post cross, but Brooks produced a strong hand to deny the Hull forward. The Birmingham shot-stopper then made consecutive saves to deny Josh Hinds and Alfie Taylor before the Tigers netted their third on the 73rd minute.

“Another one-two link up between Simms and Hall saw the latter race through on goal before clinically finishing his one-on-one effort past the onrushing Brooks. Simms looked to get a second assist as he played through Leake, but the captain’s shot was blocked by Brooks, with Simms striking wide from range moments later.

“Birmingham pulled a goal back on the 78th minute as a delivery from the left wing saw Tattum convert from close range at the back post.

“Brooks was called into action minutes later to once again deny Simms, this time at his near post, before the shot-stopper had to be alert to push behind Wood’s corner delivery from the resulting corner. The next set-piece delivery then saw the Tigers hit the post as Birmingham scrambled the rebound away to safety.”
