September 16, 2022

A public consultation event was held yesterday [Sept 15] at St. Paul’s AME Centennial Church Hall in Hamilton, with the event aiming to provide information and receive feedback on the creation of Bermuda’s Draft Blue Prosperity Plan.

Minister Walter Roban previously said, “I am extremely pleased to start the public consultation phase of this important project and want to strongly encourage participation in these events from members of the community who have questions and are curious about how they can contribute to the formation of this plan.”

The spokesperson said, “For more information about the Draft Blue Prosperity Plan or the Bermuda Ocean Prosperity Programme, please visit here. The Citizens Forum for submitted electronic feedback is now live and can be found at forum.gov.bm.”

I can’t hear much of anything after the initial introduction – is it just me, or is the event audio short-lived?

This meeting verified governments attempt to develop our offshore ocean assets at the expense of inshore fishing. The 20% of waters being closed are the areas that people fish in. It pretty much means that people, children included, will no longer be allowed to fish off the rocks. No real data to sorority this action. A sad state of affairs.

Were questions allowed or were people who asked questions threatened by security personnel?
