Child Development Program: Fatherhood Series
The Child Development Programme will be hosting a 5-week Fatherhood Series during the month of November.
“We invite fathers of newborns and children birth-five to join us for a 5-week Fatherhood Series during the month of November,” said Dr. Terrylynn Tyrell, Coordinator at the Child Development Programme.
“This series is for fathers, by fathers, so we have partnered with some truly phenomenal fathers in the community to highlight their essential role in the development of young children.
“On November 1,8,15, 22, and 29, fathers will share strategies and tips on active parenting, stress management, and developing a support team. They will share personal experiences from their fatherhood journey, address stereotypes of fatherhood, and discuss the changing norms of fatherhood.”
- Session 1: Fathers Stand Up
- Session 2: Active and Engaged Parenting
- Session 3: Myths and Messages about Fatherhood
- Session 4: Fathering in the Formative Years and Beyond
- Session 5: Parenting Together
Dr. Tyrell added, “At 5:30 pm, we will serve food so that fathers can be comfortable and ready for an informative session beginning at 6:00 pm.”
Minister of Education Diallo Rabain shared, “The Child Development Programme is a resource for Bermuda, and this 5-week series for Fathers is a cause that is very near to my heart. It is crucial for our fathers and men to feel supported. Our children need to know that their fathers and mothers are jointly invested in caring for them the best they can.”
Dr. Tyrell concluded, “This is a valuable opportunity for fathers to connect with other fathers and strengthen their parenting toolkit.
“We hope fathers of children birth to five will join us for this series, happening every Tuesday in November 2022. Registration is limited, and the location will only be provided to registrants. We encourage fathers to register as soon as possible if interested by emailing tsdurham@gov.bm or calling 478-3333.”
