Tanker Diverts To Disembark Sick Crew Member
An LPG tanker – traveling from Maryland, USA to the UK – diverted to Bermuda to disembark an ill crewmember who was suffering from chest pains.
A Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre spokesperson said, “Sunday 2nd October 2022 1:30pm. Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre receives a call from Meyer Shipping Agency to advise the 115,995 grt, Bermuda Registered LPG tanker, ‘LNG Bonny II’, was inbound to Bermuda to disembark an ill crewmember. The Nigerian national, who had been suffering from chest pains, showed no sign of improvement following medical advice from ashore.
“M/V LNG Bonny II, originally on route from Cove Point, Maryland, USA and bound for the Isle of Grain, UK diverted from her position, which enabled the patient disembarkation the next day. Shortly after 2:30pm, Monday 3rd October, the patient was safely transferred onboard the pilot boat St. David to Ordnance Island, and taken via ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial hospital.”
