Chinese Lantern Mistaken For Flare
The Bermuda Coast Guard recently investigated the sighting of a Chinese lantern that may have been mistaken for a flare.
A Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre spokesperson said, “On Sunday 6th June, 9.28pm, a member of the public contacted RCC Bermuda via 911 call to report what was thought to be a red flare, seen near Grace Island, in Granaway Deep.
“The person reporting the sighting kindly agreed to keep a look out and report any further sightings.
“The Bermuda Coast Guard investigated the sighting and observed a Chinese lantern in the area which may have been mistaken for a flare. There were no related reports, and the case was closed late on Sunday night.”
