Dage Minors set a new national record after winning the 10th Annual Biggsteps Toward Cancer Prevention 5K in Boston at the weekend.
Minors posted a time of 14min 43sec to beat triathlete Tyler Smith’s previous record of 14:48 set in the UK last year. Max McNeill came second in a time of 14:45, and Colin Cernik third [14:46].
Minors told Bernews: “Good start to the season and nice way to break up training this fall. I’ll be racing indoors this year. A few [races] in December and then a bunch in January and February.”
Minors, who finished ninth in the 1,500 metres at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham last summer, set a new national record in the West Chester Mile in Pennsylvania in August.
