Denmark 1

[Christensen 68]

Kylian Mbappe continued to sparkle at the World Cup after scoring twice for France against Denmark in Group D.

The France forward struck twice in the second half to send the defending champions through to the knockout stage.

His first came after a one-two with Theo Fernandez, his second a finish at the far post from an Antoine Griezmann cross.

Denmark equalised through defender Andreas Christensen with a header after France failed to clear a corner.

Argentina 2

[Messi 64, Fernandez 87]

Mexico 0

Argentina returned to winning ways after battling to victory over Mexico in Group C.

Lionel Messi produced a moment of magic to finish past Mexico goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa into the bottom corner to open the scoring.

Enzo Fernandez doubled Argentina’s advantage with a curled effort into the top corner.

Argentina, who suffered a surprise defeat to Saudi Arabia in their opening group game, face Poland next.

Poland 2

Saudi Arabia 0

Robert Lewandowski scored his first World Cup goal to help Poland beat Saudi Arabia in Group C.

The Barcelona striker, who missed a penalty against Mexico in their opener, showed his predatory instincts to capitalise on a defensive error before finishing past goalkeeper Mohammed Al Owais.

Piotr Zielinski handed Poland a first-half lead from Lewandowski’s pullback before Saudi Arabia squandered a chance to draw level after Salem Al-Dawsari missed a penalty.

Tunisia 0

Australia 1

[Duke 23]

Australia kept alive their hopes of reaching the last 16 with a crucial win over Tunisia in Group D in Qatar.
