Dage Minors will hold two training camps to help the island’s youngsters prepare for the upcoming Front Street Mile.

Minors, who became the first Bermudian to win the iconic race in 2018 — you watch video of the winning moment in 2018 below — said his goal is to prepare junior athletes who have qualified for the race on January 13 and expose them to new training methods.

The first camp will run from December 19 to 23 and the second from December 28 to 30. They start at 9 am and finish at noon each day.

“The Front Street Mile holds a lot of importance in Bermuda,” Minors wrote on Facebook.

“At the youth level, it has been a catalyst for some of the best runners to come from Bermuda.

“It also has seen the island graced with elite athletes in the Men’s and Women’s divisions. With the Front Street Mile and [International] Race Weekend making a return, there is a lot of excitement around it.

“The focus on the Friday night is electric when hundreds line Front Street to watch the runners race.

“In preparation for this prestigious and fun weekend, I will be putting on two training camps/workshops. We will accomplish a lot during the eight days and, most importantly, have fun.”

The island’s top middle-distance runner enjoyed a superb season, setting new national records in the 5K and mile and representing Bermuda at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

The first camp costs $145, $95 for the second and $225 for both.
