Walkers and The TLC Group will be holding a free Personal Information Protection Act [PIPA] webinar on Thursday, February 2 from 12.30pm to 1.30pm.
A spokesperson said, “Walkers and The TLC Group will be holding a free Personal Information Protection Act webinar on Thursday 2 February 2023. The webinar will run from 12.30pm to 1.30pm, Atlantic Standard Time.
“Melanie Fullerton, senior counsel at Walkers, and Taheera Lovell, co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of The TLC Group will provide an overview of the Personal Information Protection Act [as amended], with a focus on cross-border transfers and the actions organisations should be taking to ensure that personal information is transferred in a secure manner.
“It is open to Bermudian business owners and operators, as well as the public, and is an important reminder for the business community on how to navigate the parameters as set by the PIPA legislation. PIPA was enacted in 2016, but has not yet been put into operation.”
Walkers’ Melanie Fullerton said, “All Bermuda residents enjoy the right to personal information privacy and protection, particularly where an individual’s personal information is being transferred to a third party or overseas.
