Olympian Hazel Clark Shares Running Tips
Three-time Olympian Hazel Clark – the BTA Director of Global Sales and Business Development – has shared five tips for running ahead of the Skyport Magic Mile.
Maximize your closing speed
Ms. Clark said, “Pick a point on the final stretch of the track to put on your “turbo boosters” speed surge. This will help you to maintain your speed when you are most fatigued.
Pump your arms, and the legs will follow.
“When runners activate their arms, their legs follow. Focus on a powerful, efficient swing; try not to go across your body.
Run happy
“Focus on positive goals and outcomes. Remember that your primary goal is to be your best. Do not get stuck in comparisons and the results of others; enjoy your time on the track!
Celebrate the wins
“Set small goals to accomplish during the race. Maybe your goal is to run the whole race without stopping and focus on your breathing or form. Putting the pieces together will help you maximize your performance and continue to improve.
Stretch and warm up your muscles.
“A stretch session and warm-up prepares your body for activity and ensures you are limber and prepared to compete without injury. Join me for a fun pre-warm-up session at the National Stadium. See you soon, friends.”
