Clarien Donates $11,450 To Meals On Wheels

February 8, 2023

Clarien Bank has been applauded for its donation to a local charity which delivers hundreds of freshly-cooked, nourishing meals.

A generous sum was collected for Meals on Wheels through Clarien’s 2022 Holiday GiveBack Campaign, which ran between November 25th and December 31st. Clarien employees, customers and the wider community were encouraged to celebrate the season of giving by supporting the worthwhile local charity. Additional funds were then donated by The Clarien Foundation, Clarien Bank’s charitable arm, bringing the total donation to $11,450.

Jason Powell, President of Meals on Wheels said: “On behalf of those in our community who enjoy a nourishing meal prepared by Meals on Wheels, we would like to thank Clarien for its very generous donation. We truly appreciate the support.”

“The gift will go a long way towards ensuring that we are able to continue our mission to prepare and deliver freshly cooked meals to people in our community who are incapacitated, unable to cook a meal on their own, or who have no one else they can depend on to do this for them.”

Mr Powell continued: “Like most charities, we rely heavily on donations from the community and this contribution will help us to keep our ‘wheels turning’.”

The spokesperson said, “Clarien has had a longstanding partnership with MOW – and in addition to the annual Holiday GiveBack Campaign, employees also dedicate one or two days per year to volunteering with the organisation.”

Michael DeCouto, Clarien’s EVP, Chief Digital & Marketing Officer, said: “Clarien is proud to support a number of incredible charities on the Island through our annual giving. Meals on Wheels in particular has a special place in our hearts.

“We have witnessed firsthand how the charity not only provides those in need with a healthy, delicious afternoon meal, but also how their dedicated volunteers and staff develop longstanding relationships with those who receive their services. This helps to ensure the health and safety of some of the most vulnerable individuals in our community is upheld. Clarien is pleased to support Meals on Wheels and looks forward to giving back to the charity in whatever way possible n in the future.”

Founded in 1975, Meals on Wheels currently caters to more than 240 clients with various dietary restrictions including diabetes, those with renal conditions, as well as vegetarians, vegans, and those with gluten allergies.

The charity currently has four part-time staff, whom help to ensure the organisation successfully runs – from overseeing kitchen operations to coordinating volunteers.
