Results: Premier & First Division Football
Footballers in both the Premier Division and First Division were in action this weekend, with the PHC Zebras, Somerset Trojans, and St. David’s all earning wins, while two other matches ended in draws.
Premier Division
North Village Rams 1 – Dandy Town Hornets 1
The North Village Rams and the Dandy Town Hornets drew 1 – 1 at Bernard’s Park.
Tomiko Goater gave the Dandy Town Hornets the lead in the first half. Justin Bell equalized for the North Village Rams in the second half to earn them a share of the points.
X-Roads 0 – PHC Zebras 7
At Lord’s in St. David’s, the PHC Zebras moved into first place of the Premier Division following their 7 – 0 win over X-Roads.
Keishon Bean gave the PHC Zebras an early lead scoring from an angle. The lead was doubled in the 39th minute when Marco Warren drove his corner kick into the box. X-Roads were unable to clear their lines and Jenico Sealey was on hand to score from close range, and the PHC Zebras took the 2 – 0 lead to the break.
In the 62nd minute, Sealey was able to score his second goal of the game; he held off his marker and beat the goalkeeper with a right-footed shot to the goalkeeper’s right. Shavy Nisbett made it 4 – 0 in the 63rd minute, beating the keeper to his right from inside the box.
The PHC Zebras went ahead 5 – 0 when Warren stepped up and placed his penalty kick to the goalkeeper’s right. Sealey completed his hat trick by scoring from close range to make the score 6 – 0 in the 75th minute. The PHC Zebras completed the scoring in the 90th minute when a cross was met by Kenneth Matthie, who headed the ball home.
Hamilton Parish 0 – Somerset Trojans 1
The Somerset Trojans eased their relegation worries a bit with a 1 – 0 win over Hamilton Parish at the Wellington Oval.
The lone goal of this game came in the 16th minute when Simeon Burrows scored for the visitors.
First Division
Young Men Social Club 3 – Wolves 3
At the Police Field, Young Men Social Club and Wolves played to a 3 – 3 draw. Giniko Butterfield gave Young Men Social Club the lead in the third minute, but one minute later the score was level as Samario Valasse-Paul scored for Wolves. In the sixth minute, Young Men Social Club went back in front as David Jones Jr. scored.
Young Men Social Club went up 3 – 1 in the 73rd minute when Jomeko Mallory scored, but three minutes later Troy Tucker scored for the Wolves to pull within one, and then in the 80th minute Marcus Ming found the back of the net for Wolves to earn a point.
St. David’s 3 – Somerset Eagles 1
At Lord’s in St. David’s, the home team defeated the Somerset Eagles 3 – 1. Dimitri Butterfield gave St. David’s the lead in the 17th minute, but in the 69th minute, Shawn James equalized for the Somerset Eagles. St. David’s was back in front in the 77th minute when Iyuan Smith scored, and then in the 90th minute, Tre McCallan made it 3 – 1.
