‘Films At BUEI’ Being Launched In February
The Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute announced the launch of “Films at BUEI”, screening every 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month at 7.00pm in the Tradewinds Auditorium.

A spokesperson said, “As one of the remaining theatres in Bermuda, we are excited to provide the community with an additional venue to view award-winning films that would otherwise not be seen here on a big screen. Films selected for screening are intended for mature audiences and include a ticket option package featuring a beverage such as wine, beer or a non-alcoholic drink, and snacks to enjoy during each show.
“Saturday, February 11th, Films at BUEI will screen ‘Blind Ambition’, a feel good documentary that follows four friends who have conquered the odds after escaping starvation and tyranny in their homeland of Zimbabwe to become South Africa’s top sommeliers. Driven by relentless optimism, a passion for their craft and a sense of national pride, they form Zimbabwe’s first national wine tasting team and set their sights on the coveted title of ‘World Wine Tasting Champions.’
“On Saturday, February 25th, ‘Films at BUEI’ will screen the multi-award-winning film, ‘The Whale’, starring Brendan Fraser as a reclusive English teacher attempting to reconnect with his estranged teenage daughter. Fraser has received a best actor nomination for this role.”
“As a non-profit charity, we have to be creative about generating revenue that supports our mission to ensure the ocean around Bermuda is loved and protected” said Karla Lacey, BUEI CEO. “Films have historically been an important source of core revenue for BUEI, with the limited opportunities for big screen viewing, we believe there’s a market for thoughtfully curated offerings.”

The spokesperson said, “Tickets for ‘Films at BUEI’ are $15 for general admission and $25 for our Big Screen package, which includes a complimentary glass of wine from Beringer Main & Vine from California or Moretti Beer from Italy, [or a non-alcoholic beverage], and a delightful snack pack to enjoy during the screening!
