Port Royal Golf Course Offers Night Range
The Port Royal Golf Course and Digicel have collaborated to offer “the island’s the only night range.”
A spokesperson said, “The hours of operation are Thursday nights through Sunday nights weekly, 5:30 p.m.-9:00 p.m. The hours will change with the daylight savings period.
“An official launch and grand opening is scheduled for the end of April/early May, specifically when the atmosphere is just right [better weather and warmer]. The idea transpired when the PGA Pro’s indicated that they couldn’t see in the early hours of the morning during the 2020/21 Butterfield Bermuda Championship.
“After hearing of the struggle for light, Mr. Stephen Murad, the Digicel CEO, sat down with the Head Professional of Port Royal Golf Course, Steven Lambert Jr. and proposed a partnership to generate lights and new mats to the Southampton PGA Tour Stop.
“Last October, the dream came to fruition as the PGA Pro’s had lights to hit balls at 5:30 a.m. In addition to that, the second week of November 2022, a soft opening was introduced and the night range was opened to the public and has been opened ever since. Again, a soft opening remains in place at this point as we continue to upgrade the night range before the grand opening.
“At present, the night range is opened to the public all winter; however, it is important to note that the hours may shift depending on the demand throughout the summer months.
