UN Women’s Post To Support Joint SDG Fund

The Ministry of Social Development and Seniors is encouraging the public to apply for a consultant position with the United Nations [UN] Women.

A Government spokesperson said, “The Ministry of Social Development and Seniors encourages members of the public who have a keen interest in working for the United Nations Women and who have the required skills and experience to apply for the following position:

  • Consultant [retainer] to support the activities of the Joint SDG Fund Programmes to Advance Innovative Financing in Bermuda
  • Application deadline – Monday, 13th March 2023

“This is the third position being advertised by UN Women in connection with the joint UN – Bermuda development programme, entitled ‘Building Back Equal through Innovative Financing for Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment,’ which will be based in Bermuda. This is another position that is vital to ensure the advancement of the Joint Sustainable Development Goals [SDG] Fund Programmes are a success.

“The post holder will gain valuable opportunities and experience to engage with local and international professionals committed to eliminating discrimination against women and girls, empowering women, and advancing gender equality.

“The two positions previously advertised in December 2022 by UNDP on behalf of UN Women were for consultants that will be responsible for doing work within the framework of the project.

“This initiative is being implemented in Bermuda with the assistance of the United Nations Women [UN Women] and the United Nations Development Programme [UNDP] and is being funded by the United Nations Joint Sustainable Development Goal [SDG] Fund.”

Minister Furbert said, “In our most recent step towards addressing gender-related issues, Bermuda and the United Nations embarked on a landmark partnership in June 2022. The Government of Bermuda signed the Multi-Country Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework [MSDCF], the first-ever partnership of its kind in Bermuda with the United Nations.

“The first major project under this new engagement is the Joint Programme ‘Building Back Equal through Innovative Financing for Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment’, a one-million-dollar investment across two countries – Bermuda and Bahamas. The Joint Programme will assist Bermuda in creating a more productive and equitable culture.”

The spokesperson said, “This initiative is being implemented in Bermuda with the assistance of the United Nations Women [UN Women] and the United Nations Development Programme [UNDP] and is being funded by the United Nations Joint Sustainable Development Goal [SDG] Fund.”
