Vessel Loses 46 Empty Shipping Containers
A Liberia-flagged container ship – traveling from Boston to the Dominican Republic – apparently lost 46 empty shipping containers overboard approximately 350nm east of Bermuda.
A Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre spokesperson said, “Friday 3rd March 7:15pm – Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre was advised via email from the Merchant Vessel MSC Shristi, a container ship on passage from Boston to the Dominican Republic, that while on route past Bermuda at approximately 350nm east of Bermuda, the vessel had lost overboard a total of 46 empty shipping containers at three different times during bad weather, Bermuda Radio has liaised with the US Coast Guard, and will broadcast Notice to Mariners Navigation Warnings accordingly.”
