March 17, 2023

The Community Peace Walk will take place on Saturday, March 18th beginning at 4pm at the campus of the Bermuda College, with the event aiming to “promote further steps towards the promotion of a caring and sharing community.”

Glenn Fubler said, “We have two Members of Parliament from local constituencies – Ianthia Simmons-Wade and Scott Pearman – as well as some representatives from the collaboration of stakeholder organizations of the Paget/Warwick area. We all are gathered to highlight the Community Peace Walk due to take place on Saturday, March 18th beginning at 4pm at the campus of the Bermuda College.

“Representatives from 4 educational institutions, 3 community clubs and 3 churches – from this Hub – have been collaborating for almost a year. This, in response to the challenges to the social fabric of our Island. Stretching outside of our proverbial ‘boxes’, collectively we have been able to nurture a spirit of solidarity that has fostered positive outcomes for some of those families impacted by these challenging times.

“This Peace Walk has been organized to promote further steps towards the promotion of a caring and sharing community.

“Walkers will leave the College and proceed – mostly by way of Ord Road from the Island’s pinnacle of learning, to Warwick Workmen’s Club. Which is one of Bermuda’s oldest – 100 years – workmen’s clubs, an example of the strong legacy of community, Bermuda enjoys.

“Supporters are also encouraged to ‘walk their talk’ in a holistic way by donating funds towards those Families identified by primary school counsellors as having been adversely impacted during these extraordinary times. Those donations can be made online through the Clarien Bank Platform– details follow – or in-person to either Warwick Workmen’s Club or the Office of Christ Church [Warwick] – 10am until Noon.

“Online donations are made to the Friends of Christ Church [Warwick] Trust – Clarion Bank, Bermuda [ref. Peace Walk] Account # 6000 166 404.

“Those making up the Collaboration include representatives from: Bermuda College, Bright Temple AME, Christ Church [Warwick], Paget F.C., Paget Primary, PHC, Purvis Primary, Rehoboth Church of God, Warwick Academy, Warwick Workmen’s Club.”
