Possible ‘Swimmer In Distress’ Investigated
A suspected “swimmer in distress” turned out to be a false alarm, with the person actually a “competitive swimmer who was making progress and did not appear to be in any distress.”
A Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre spokesperson said, “On Saturday, March 18 at 6:24pm, Bermuda Radio received a call from police COMOPS regarding a floating object, possibly a swimmer in distress, near Watford Bridge a land unit had been dispatched to investigate.
“When on scene, the police reported that the call was regarding a competitive swimmer who was making progress and did not appear to be in any distress.”
