Elijah Samuels Returns On Tall Ship ‘Sørlandet’
The world’s largest fully operational tall ship, the Sørlandet, docked in Hamilton, with Bermudian Elijah Samuels on board.
A spokesperson said, “Beach Education are very excited to confirm that the world’s largest fully operational tall ship, the Sørlandet, will be docking in Hamilton on Thursday, March 9 and departing on March 15. The crew includes Bermudian Elijah Samuels who has been sailing on the ship since September of last year.
“The ship is home to the prestigious A+ World Academy school that provides high school education whilst sailing to 11 countries and 16 cities during the academic school year. Elijah is the first Bermudian to enjoy this life-changing experience that provides college accepted credits in addition to the maritime experience. A+ World Academy is also available as a gap year option.
“Elijah and his fellow crewmates and faculty will be meeting with various schools and sailing groups during the time in port and will be available to the public at the open house on Saturday, March 11 from 2.00pm to 6.00pm at Pier 6.”
Humberto Sauri [Beto], Elijah´s watch 5 mentor and teacher, said, “Elijah is a very mindful person that likes taking care of others. He was the first student in his Watch to step in and offer the rest help in case they needed it, even if it was just to have someone to talk to. When things are a little stressful, he is also really good at lightening up the mood by telling a few jokes.
“He has an adventurous soul and is willing to do all the activities available at every port. He loves spending time with other students and has made a lot of friends through the school year. Last but not least, he is an amazing sailor, and he seems happy to be onboard the Sørlandet. We are happy to have him in our family.”
The spokesperson said, “Director of Admissions, Adam Rule, will also be in Bermuda to meet with families and answer questions and provide more information on how more Bermuda residents can take advantage of this unique opportunity.”
