Video: Young Bermudian Stars In Disney Advert
[Written by Stephen Wright]
A talented young Bermudian performer has appeared in Disney’s latest advert as part of its Wonder of Play global campaign.
Nahla Robinson stars in the one-minute advert, aiming to encourage families to play more by helping parents and guardians integrate imaginative play into everyday moments.
The five-year-old, whose family come from Somerset, moved to Istanbul, Turkey, two-and-a-half years ago and was asked to audition for Giovanni Ajans’s talent agency after a friend shared photos of her to a talent spotter.
After successfully auditioning for the role in October last year, Nahla filmed the advert a month later in Istanbul. It can be viewed on Disney’s YouTube channel and will have a global release on all broadcasting platforms.
“This was Nahla’s first experience, and the directing crew loved working with her because she was really excited to see how all the cameras worked and watch her ‘playbacks’ on the filming camera,” a family member told Bernews.
“She was surprised to see herself on YouTube as the advert popped up during her favourite show, Sekora and Sefari.”
Nahla developed her acting skills at Perform to Learn Bermuda in Hamilton – the island’s only play-based performing arts preschool, run by McCartney K.Hart – before leaving the island for Istanbul.
She returned to the preschool for six weeks last year when she came home for her summer vacation.

Only way for bermudian people to make it is to leave
To some degree that is true; Bermuda is a small place.
If you want to be in adverts for Disney, yes.
Leaving is not the “only way”, but for some it is the easier way.
