Christopher Set To Fight Again Next Weekend

Bermudian boxer Tyler Christopher will step up from four rounds to six for his next professional fight at the Holiday Inn in Yardley, Birmingham, next Saturday [April 22].
The 26-year-old, who has a perfect record of six wins, said he is ready to graduate from four-round contests and will benefit from having more time to break down his opponents.
“My style is more suited to six-round fights,” Christopher told Bernews. “I can work my way into the fight, work out my opponent and take a round off if needed.
“In a four-round fight, it’s straight action, and I keep trying to force the fight.”
Christopher enjoyed a convincing victory over journeyman Luke Middleton in his previous outing at the H Suite in Edgbaston last month; however, he hopes to face a far more ambitious fighter next weekend.
“I should have got him [Middleton] out of there, but those journeymen don’t usually come to fight,” the super welterweight said.
“Jon [Pegg, Christopher’s manager] was impressed with my performance and has put me straight on another fight card.
“It’s good for me to have back-to-back fights. That way, I don’t blow up in weight.
“I can just tick over, sharpen my tools, and prepare for the fight.”
Christopher, who trains at the D&A Boxing School of Excellence in Stirchley, Birmingham, has been sparring with seasoned pro Kaicee Benjamin from the nearby Eastside Boxing Gym in preparation for his next contest.
Benjamin, a super lightweight, has won 16 and drawn one of his 19 bouts, losing to the highly ranked Dalton Smith by a unanimous decision at the Manchester Arena in November last year.
“He’s a skilful fighter, but I felt I did well against him,” Christopher added. “I feel I’m up there with those guys; they have more experience than me. I like to spar with guys who are better than me.”
By the end of the year, Christopher hopes to have improved his record to at least 9-0 and be in a position to challenge for a Midland Area title.
“I’ll take the summer off, spend time with my family and kick back in August or September,” he said.
Mellows Catering, Plant N Plate in King’s Heath, Birmingham, and Urban Renaissance and Island Air Conditioning in Bermuda are Christopher’s sponsors.
Never remember Ali, tyson or mayweather ever having a “professional” fight that lasts 4 rounds lol but ok
