Team Bermuda Gets $30,000 From Aecon

Team Bermuda received a $30,000 dollar cash boost from Aecon, to assist the Bermuda National Athletics Association [BNAA] with travel, accommodations and uniforms.

A spokesperson said, “Bermuda Skyport [Skyport] and Aecon, bid farewell to Team Bermuda at the L.F. Wade International Airport as they left for the Bahamas to represent Bermuda at the fiftieth staging of the Carifta Games. Team Bermuda received a $30,000 dollar cash boost from the infrastructure development and construction firm, Aecon, to assist the Bermuda National Athletics Association [BNAA] with travel, accommodations and uniforms. Minister of Youth, Sport & Culture, Owen K. Darrell alongside Director of Youth, Sports & Recreation, Charryse Bean attended the farewell meet and greet, joining Aecon and Skyport executives, and BNAA officials, and scores of well-wishers to see the athletes off early this morning.”

Dr. Freddie Evans, President BNAA said, “The Carifta Games is a major investment for our Association, one that provides exposure and access to endless opportunities for our athletes. It’s a staple on our athletic calendar but it comes at a substantial cost. Aecon’s commitment to the sport of Athletics and our athletes at large has come at a very significant time and we are very excited and grateful for their contribution. We are looking forward to partnering with them over the 2023 season. ”

We wish the athletes, coaches and supporters much success as they represent Bermuda at Carifta this weekend.”

The Carifta Games represents a perfect opportunity to once again invest in our young people. The spokesperson said, “The 50th Carifta Games will launch with an opening ceremony on April 7, with competition set to take place in Bahamas April 8-10, 2023. The competition will be broadcast on Sportsmax TV and the Sportsmax app.”
