Bermuda Healthcare Services Celebrates 30 Yrs
Bermuda Healthcare Services, a medical practice owned by former premier Dr. Ewart Brown, will spend the summer celebrating its 30th anniversary.
A spokesperson said, “The practice opened in March 1993 as Dr. Brown transitioned his practice from Los Angeles to Bermuda. Despite many challenges, Bermuda Healthcare Services began with just three part-time staff members and today employs 15.
“Bermuda Healthcare Services was the first private practice in Bermuda to offer diagnostic imaging services outside of the hospital and Dr. Brown introduced mammography to the Island in the early 90s. Additionally, the practice was one of the first to offer comprehensive physicals, which weren’t common in Bermuda at the time.”
Reflecting on the milestone, Dr. Brown says: “When I started Bermuda Healthcare Services 30 years ago, it was a very proud moment for me having worked abroad for two decades. I initially wanted to start my practice in Bermuda, but after not passing the medical examination in the 70s, I went to the US, passed and set up my first practice in Los Angeles.
“When I retook and passed the exam in Bermuda in 1988, I decided to create a comprehensive private medical practice that offered patients the best possible care on island. I am proud to say that I achieved that goal. On behalf of the team at Bermuda Healthcare Services, I would like to thank all of our patients over the years who put their trust in us and the public for its support.”
The spokesperson said, “As part of the celebrations, Bermuda Healthcare Services will host a patient appreciation event this summer along with various announcements, media columns and radio giveaways.
