Win A $25k Grant To Help Fund Your Business
A pitch competition set to be held in September will award five entrepreneurs up to $25,000 each.
A spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Economic Development Corporation [BEDC] has entered into a multi-year partnership with the Global Atlantic Re foundation to provide BEDC Program participants with capital grants up to $150,000 a year.
“These grants will be issued every other year and will help to fuel the growth and success of small businesses throughout Bermuda. The funds will be disbursed at a pitch competition to be held in September.
“The pitch competition to be held in September will allow entrepreneurs to showcase their businesses and pitch their ideas to a panel of judges. The winners will receive capital grants from the Global Atlantic Re foundation, which will help them to take their businesses to the next level.
“This September’s pitch competition will have the outcome of awarding five entrepreneurs up to $25,000 each, as follows:
- 3 local companies in any industry;
- 1 youth entrepreneur [ages 13 – 22]; and
- 1 People’s Choice Award that the public will be able to vote on
“This partnership and pitch competition is an exciting opportunity for entrepreneurs to showcase their ideas and get the funding they need to grow their businesses. BEDC and the Global Atlantic Re foundation encourage all entrepreneurs in Bermuda to apply for this opportunity and look forward to seeing the amazing ideas and businesses that emerge from this competition.
How Does it Work?
“Approved applications will participate in preliminary rounds to help identify the top 10 companies who will pitch for one of the $25K grants listed above.
Important Dates:
- Submission Deadline: Monday, June 5th
- Preliminary Rounds: June 26th – July 14th
- Coaching & Pitch Bootcamp: Thursday, July 20th
- Youth Finals: August 17th
- Pitch Competition: September 28th
Am I Eligible?
“Before completing the application, please keep in mind that you must have the following to be eligible for consideration.
- Must be registered with the BEDC and have participated in a BEDC Program.
- Must be a Bermuda based business.
- Must have an idea, minimum viable product or a business that has clear benefit to the Bermuda market.
- Must demonstrate demand for the product or service.
- Must clearly identify what the funds will be used for [business cannot have any political or religious affiliation].
- Must not be receiving any other grant funds from another private entity that exceeds $5,000.00.
