“The price at the pump for Gasoline as of Tuesday, May 16, 2023, is expected to remain at 234.1 cents/litre,” announced Premier and Minister of Finance David Burt.

“This price is equal to the February 2022 level of 234.10 cents/litre, at which prices were capped for the last fourteen months while global prices soared.” Without the price cap the price at the pump would have been 238.1 cents/litre.

Premier Burt continued, “Diesel, for the second consecutive month, is below its original capped price of 212.2 cents/litre and is expected to be 207.2 cents/litre, 3.9 cents/litre lower at the pump this month.

“Kerosene, for the first time since February 2022, is below its original capped price of 178.6 cents/litre, and is expected to be 174.6 cents/litre, 4.0 cents/litre lower at the pump this month.

“While consumers worldwide faced record gas prices, motorists and businesses in Bermuda have benefited from the support provided by this Government’s fuel price cap,” concluded Premier Burt.

“This fuel price cap is one more way that this Government has taken steps to reduce the impact that 40-year-high global inflation has on Bermuda’s residents and businesses.”

The Ministry provided the charts below and said they show the monthly prices since January 2022.

When it’s “good” news this premier can run fast enough to the mic.
When it’s bad news this premier can’t be found.

This gov doing all it can? How about the tax on fuel? The World Heritage tax? Where’s that being spent BTW?

  2. Johnny Paycheck says:

The Premier is forcing the oil companies to operate at a loss, and then turning around and handing them back part of the duty on fuel to make up for it. The taxpayer is being robbed. The Premier is no savior. He’s hiding the manner in which we are all covering the cost of fuel, over which no politician has any control!

  3. Ringmaster says:

Classic snake oil salesman trick. Prices have been held down by the Government to help taxpayers, by using taxes paid by taxpayers to pay oil companies to hold prices down. Then takes credit for the scam.
