On Saturday, May 20th, the Women’s Resource Centre will offer a free workshop for expecting and new mothers.

A spokesperson said, “The workshop, Mother’s Emerging, will be facilitated by Feven Binega-Northcott, a local Birth & Lactation professional and owner of Harmony Birth Services, with over a decade of experience supporting women in childbirth and the postpartum period. The workshop will focus on adjusting to motherhood, understanding your baby and support tools for the postpartum period.

“Studies show that women who lack control and a sense of agency during birth or have poor care and support are more at risk of developing post-traumatic stress disorder, postpartum depression, and other birthing-related mental health challenges. Empowering women with the right tools and resources to have a successful pregnancy, birthing and mothering experience will make a long-lasting positive impact on our entire community.”
