77 Athletes To Compete In 2023 Island Games

A squad of 77 athletes from 11 sports will represent Bermuda at the NatWest International Island Games in Guernsey, Channel Islands, next month.
The opening ceremony takes place at the Osmond Priaulx Playing Field in Saint Peter Port on Saturday, July 8.
More than 2,000 athletes from 24 member islands will compete in 14 different sports across 25 venues.
Jon Beard, chairman of the Bermuda Island Games Association, said Bermuda have several potential medal winners and has thanked the team managers for assembling their squads. He also thanked “hard-working” committee members Juanita Blee and Georgina Francoeur.
Beard also expressed his appreciation for the support received from the Centennial Fund, Chubb, Butterfield and Vallis, Island Construction and the Government of Bermuda, “without whose help and support performing in the Games would not have been possible for many athletes.”
Guernsey was due to host the Island Games in 2021 before being postponed because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
