Photos & Video: Yacht Race Leaves For Newport
The second leg of the Bermuda One-Two 2023 race is underway, with yachts leaving for Newport, Rhode Island yesterday [June 15].
Cole Brauer won the first leg of the event, with Ms Brauer singlehandedly sailing 635 nautical miles from Rhode Island, claiming a commanding victory, and becoming the first woman to win the race.
In explaining how the race works, the advance notice of race said, “The first leg will be sailed singlehanded from Newport, Rhode Island to the finish line off St. George’s, Bermuda, by any course. The second leg will be sailed doublehanded from St. George’s to the finish line off Newport, by any course.
“The start of the singlehanded leg will be on Friday, June 2. The start of the doublehanded leg will be on Thursday, June 15.”
Safe journey to all!
I have had Marine Ops demand my 26’ Fortier wait for the ferry to enter Town Cut. That was in my opinion excessive. However there should be an investigation as to how the Cruise Ship Ferry was able to dangerously transit the Town Cut precisely during the start of a well publicized International Doublehanded yacht race. That was in my option poor seamanship and risky dangerous lack of management.
Good riddance rich white people, you’re not welcome here…just your money.

You must be related to Colonel Handbag.
You mean earing boy?
You may refer to him as earring boy, he’s better known as Colonel Handbag for his time carrying Jennifer’s Smith’s handbag for her.
Oh, I thought it had something to do with young boys in Jamaica.
