Solay Thomas Wins Bronze At Special Olympics

Solay Thomas has won Bermuda’s third medal at the Special Olympics World Games in Berlin after claiming bronze in the women’s shot put with a personal best throw today [June 22].
A team of 19 athletes are representing Bermuda at the Special Olympics, which started on Saturday [June 17], in athletics, bowling, equestrian, swimming and tennis.
It is the first time Germany has hosted the event, which involves 7,000 athletes competing in 24 sports.
Bermuda won eight medals at the previous Special Olympics in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, in 2019.
Solay, I remember when you were born. You have come along way and I am proud of you. You are now amongst the very elite of those who been to the Olympics games and have conquered, WOW! No doubt you worked hard to accomplished this great task and you deserve all the praise for your medal as you are an amazing athlete.
Congratulations to you and your family. You have made this little island of Bermuda proud.
